  • The NI PXIe-8840 RT is a high-performance Intel Core i5-4400E processor-based embedded controller for use in PXI Express systems. With the 2.7 GHz base frequency, 3.3 GHz (single-core Turbo Boost mode) dual-core processor, and single-channel 1600 MHz DDR3 memory, this controller is ideal for processor-intensive modular instrumentation and DAQ applications.

    You can develop your application with the NI LabVIEW Real-Time Module or NI LabWindows™/CVI Real-Time Module on Windows and download the program to your NI PXIe-8840 RT controller via Ethernet. The deployed embedded code executes on a real-time OS, providing a highly deterministic, reliable execution platform for your real-time test, measurement, and control applications.

    In-ROM Diagnostics
    To improve the serviceability of the NI PXIe-8840 RT, you can quickly access in-ROM diagnostics for the hard drive and memory without requiring external third-party tools. By running these diagnostics, you can determine if you need to replace the hard drive or memory. The controller design allows for quick field replacement of critical components such as the hard drive and the memory without affecting the warranty. To ease the process of purchasing spare components, hard drive and memory upgrades are available with the NI PXIe-8840 RT. The combination of purchasing spare components along with the in-ROM diagnostics significantly improves NI PXIe-8840 RT serviceability.
